Subways and Light Railways
Shanghai's subway network has five separate lines.
Line 1 runs from Gongfu Xichu past the Shanghai
Zhan railway station and ends at Shen Cun. Line
2 runs between Zhongshan Park and Zhangjiang Gaoke;
line 3, “the Peal Line”, goes from Shanghai Nan
Zhan to Jiangwan Zhen; line 4 from Damuqiao Lu to
Pudong Jiangcun Lu; and line 5 goes from Shen Zhuang
to Minhang Kaifaqu. The base ticket price begins
at 3 RMB (only 2 RMB on line 5) and increases by
1 RMB past the first 6 kilometers and 1 RMB for
each additional tem kilometers.
Shanghai' main urban attractions (the Bund, People's
Square, Xujiahui, Longhua, Hongqiao,
Hongkou,Lujiazui, and Huamu) and bustling commercial
areas (Nanjing Lu, Huaihai Lu, Xujiahui, Buye Cheng,
Babaiban ) can be found right along the subway.
